Unlocking research potential: webinar for GPs
A webinar for GP practices on Tuesday 8 September 2026 will introduce the South West SDE and explain how we make it easier and safer for practices to take part in research.

Achieving formal research accreditation can help GP practices contribute to health and care research, improve patient pathways and open up new funding streams.
The South West Secure Data Environment (SDE) is offering practices in the region funding to enable them to contribute patient data for approved research through their secure platform.
GPs are invited to join regional leaders and researchers on Tuesday 8 September from 12.30-1.30pm for a webinar introducing the SDE programme. Tailored for both active and non-active research practices, this session will provide an overview of the NHS SDE network and the progress being made in the South West.
GP practices hold a valuable source of insight that can help drive better outcomes for patients. The South West SDE makes it easier and safer for practices to take part in research, access new opportunities, and contribute to innovation across the NHS.
The webinar will detail, step-by-step, the opportunity to become a fully accredited ‘evidence locator’ in the research arena. GPs will be offered financial compensation to review the necessary data sharing agreement.
